Challenge to Canadian Government Ottawa, January 22. “Unemployment lias been reduced from a peak of 750,000 to less than 500,000 now,” so the Prime Minister, Mr. R B. Bennett, told the House of Commons. Mr, Mackenzie King, Leader of the Opposition, challenged the Government to prove the sincerity of its reform programme by side-tracking all other Government business and proceeding at once to produce legislation. The Premier asserted that there was no evidence that Canadians were anxious for an immediate General Election. The dissolution of Parliament would be likely to occur during the summer.
