RARE QUOTATIONS

Two Issues on Auckland Stock Exchange COMMONWEALTH BONDS Dominion Special Service. Auckland, January 23. Two issues rarely quoted on the Auckland Stock Exchange were quoted to-day—-Commonwealth 1957 dollar bonds and Bank of New Zealand longterm mortgage debentures. Commonwealth bonds of a face value of 100 dollars bear interest at 5 per cent., payable in New York, and they were offered ait £29, but buyers did not bid. There are several Commonwealth loans which have been raised in the United States, but as far as is known none has been quoted on the Auckland Exchange before. They are listed on the Melbourne Exchange, but there have been no quotations there for soine months. Bank of New Zealand long-term mortgage debentures, selling to-day at £lO7, changed hands for the first time since October, 1932. The last sale was at £97/10/-, but the issue which returns 5 1-8 per cent, has naturally risen in value in : common with other debentures bearing a comparatively high rate of interest. Debentures were issued in 1929, and have currency of 10 years.
