MARAMA’S CRUISE
D’Urville Island and Sounds Change, beauty, historic interest, amusement, and the open air, will all be found on the Marama’s trip to D’Ur>’ille Island and the Marlborough Sounds, commencing on January 2S. She will leave the wharf at Wellington at 8 p.m., and anchor out jn the harbour for a dance on deck, proceeding to sea at a late hour. The Marama will take her way first to D'Urville Island, where the next day, Tuesday, will be spent in boating, bathing, fishing, and harbour-cruising in launches or the ship s boats. The chief historic interest of the trip will be provided by a call next morning at Ship Cove, Captain Cook’s base for his explorations of the southern world, where a landing is to be made to see at close quarters the monument erected in 1913. The next place visited will be the Grove Arm. at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound. Leaving during the night for Kenepuru Sound, tlie Marama should be anchored there by breakfast time, and the morning will pass in boating, bathing, picnicking, and so on. Tennyson Inlet, with its 20,000 surrounding acres of beautiful bush, will be tlie final place of call. The Marama will stay there for the farewell dinner and fancy dress ball, on tlie final evening of the cruise. There will be various shipboard amusements during the trip, including talkies, dancing, and deck games. The Marama will return to Wellington on Friday morning. February 1. leaving in the pfternoon for Sydney.
