At the Albert Hall, in a 19-round bout, Kid Berg defeated Gustave Humery, French lightweight champion, tiie referee stopping tiie bout in the eighth round, owing to the Frenchman having a damaged eye If. was a terrific contest. The title was not involved. In a 10-round bout, Jimmy Walsh defeated the American, Wesley Ramey, in the sixth round, when the latter was disqualified for a low delivery. At Hull, in a 12-round bout, Al Burke outpointed Belb Dorinars, Dutch middleweight champion. COLLAPSE AT FIGHT Boxer’s Mother’s Death Johannesburg, January 21. A recent boxing contest at Johannesburg had a tragic sequel to-day when Mrs. Stevens. mother of Laurie Stevens, the Olympic lightweight champion, now a professional, died. She was present, at a fight between Stevens and the Italian Aldo Spoldi, and seeing her son knocked down for tiie first time in his career, she collapsed. She never recovered from tiie shock.
