THE “KING’S HOUSE”
Gift by Royal Warranti Holders BUILDING TO COMMENCE (British Official Wireless.) (Received January 22, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, January 21. Building operations are about to begin at Burhili, Surrey, on the “King's House,” which is to be erected to designs by Mr. Beresford Marshall as a gift by the Royal Warrant Holders’ Association to commemorate his Majesty’s silver jubilee. The scheme for building and equipping, for the accommodation of such person as the King might nominate, a small house representative of the best that British architecture, building and furnishing can produce bad the advance approval of the King and prominent architects were invited to submit designs. The King and Queen made a final selection from three of these which had been set aside by Sir Gilbert Scott, president of the Institute of British Architects.
