Vice-Regal. The Governor-General returned to Wellington yesterday \morning after bidding farewell to his Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester on the completion of the official section of his tour of New Zealand. Their Excellencies were present at the races at Trentham yesterday afternoon. The Governor-General, who will be accompanied by Lady Bledisloe, will take filial leave of the Duke of Gloucester at the Bay of Islands on Tues day next, this being the date of his Royal Highness’s departure from the shores of New Zealand. It will also be the occasion of their Excellencies’ final visit to the Waitangi National Estate which his Royal Highness has expressed a wish to see iu company with them. The Governor-General and Lady Bledisloo will, therefore, leave Wellington by the Limited express to-morrow evening! and .will arrive at Auckland on the following morning, and will then proceed by the Government steamer Matai (which at that time will be discharging her normal lighthouse services) to the Bay of Islands. Their Excellencies will return to Wellington on the morning of February 2. Sir Alexander Young, Minister of Internal Affairs, left Wellington by the Limited express last night, en route to Russell, Bay of Islands, where he will be stationed for the coming week iu connection with the management of the North Auckland visit of the Duke of Gloucester. Mr. W. Petty left Wellington last evening for the south. Dr. G. W. Harty has returned to Wellington from the north. Mr. E. C. Hands, general manager of the Radio Broadcasting Board, left Wellington last evening for Auckland. Mr. J. L. Passmore, Dunedin, was a passenger from Wellington last evening for the south. Sir Charles Clifford, who was in Wellington yesterday for the races, left for the south last evening. Pastor A. 11. Piper was among the passengers from Wellington for the south last evening. Sir Henry and Lady Marks, of Suva, arrived at Auckland on Sunday by the Aorangi to spend a holiday in New Zealand. Mr. J. C. Irons, general manager of the Canadian-Australasian Royal Mail Line, Limited, arrived at Auckland from Vancouver by the Aorangi on Sunday for a short visit to the Dominion, fie was accompanied by Mrs. Irons.
