Racing at Trentham.- The Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting opened yesterday in fine weather before a large crowd. (1) His Excellency the Governor-General at the new lawn entrance standing during the playing of the National Anthem. From left: Mrs. Eric Riddiford, their Excellencies, MR. C. W. Tringham, Mr. Eric Riddiford (president of the Racing Club). Mr. J. W. Abbott. (2) Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Richardson and party. (3) Dr. P. F. McEvedy and the Misses McEvedy. (4) Mrs. G. R. Grace (whose wedding took place last week) and Mr. P. Borthwick. (5) The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and Mr. C. W. Tringham. (6) Mr. G. W, Reid and Miss and Mrs. Hamilton. (7) Racing for the straight in the Fitzherbert Handicap. Fulojoy (rails) leading Nightlass (outre) and Alehemic. They finished in that order. (8) Sir Alexander Young with Lady Young (left) and Miss Iris Young. (9) The finish of the Wellington Cup won by Vintage, with Cuddle second. (10) Miss Addison and Mrs. Macdonald. (11)A view of the course as the Cup field, led by Red Manfred, Grand Jury and Spiral, left the straight.
