LODGE MEETINGS
Loyal Rose of the Valley The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge was presided over by Bro. A. E. Hewer, N.G., there being a very good attendance. An honorarymember was initiated into the order. A discussion took place regarding the annual picnic, and it'was decided to hold it on Anniversary Day. Bro. K. Cropp was nominated for the uosition of District Grand Master, and Bro. Norris for Deputy D.G.M., and a seat on the district management commit tee. Loyal Sister Wallis. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge was held recently, Sister N. Williams presiding. Nominations were received for district officers and management committee. Sister Anderson (nee Sister Johns) wa® welcomed and felicitated on her recent marriage. The social programme for 1935 was discussed, final drawing up of it being left in the hands of the social committee. Loyal Antipodean. Bro. A. Read presided over the meeting of the Loyal Antipodean Lodge. Prior to the commencement of business members stood in silence as a mark of respect to Bro. Taft’s late wife, and a motion was passed that a letter of condolence be forwarded him. An old member, Bro. Dormer, on a visit from Nelson, was accorded a hearty welcome. In reply to lodge honours, Bro. Dormer accorded members a resume of the ritual work and of affairs generally in the Nelson district. A member was accepted on clearance from Loyal Mosgiel Lodge, and was duly welcomed. Sick visitors reported, and the F.S. made reference to the abnormally large number of brethren in hospitals at the present time. The annual balance-sheet was presented. revealing that the total funds of the lodge, after providing, for various benefits during the year were £56,887. After dis-, cussion the balance-sheet was adopted. Bro. Barrow paid a tribute to the thorougfiness that characterised the financial secretary's work. District Management Committee. There was a full attendance at the last meeting of the Wellington district management committee (M.U.1.0.0.F.). Business was dealt with for submission to the directors, and also nominations for society office -were received, the biennial movable conference opening at Christchurch on April 22. Nominations for district office propositions for the consideration of the Wellington district conference being held in Mastertou on March 5, were also given attention, a committee being elected and empowered to receive further business front the lodges up to February 3 The D.G.M., Bro. Gooding, thanked officers and members of the committee for their support during the year he had held office.
