Beach Services
Sir,- —The caption to the picture in "The Dominion” concerning beach services at Lyall Bay was somewhat misleading. Many years ago the late Mr. T. Sims, then a prominent Wellington Sunday school worker, when on holiday at Worsen Bay, instituted what he termed Sand services for children holidaying ui that locality. At different times other workers followed up the practice at these seaside resorts. The Lyall Bay venture was commenced four years ago by Rev. M. A. McDowell, then stationed in Wellington East Circuit, and was continued by hint each summer with considerable success, the interest of the youth of the district being captured, not only by the Sunday services, but also by those held on week days. This year's services are conducted by the Rev. 11. C. Matthews, and follow up the work begun by “Uncle Mac” and his helpers.—l am, etc.,
METHODIST. Wellington, January 14.
