Championship Finals at Timaru OTAGO WINS SHIELD By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, January 22. The junior intermediate swimming championships concluded to-night in fine weather and in the presence of a large crowd. Otago collected three titles tonight, Auckland one, and Canterbury one. The final points for the War Memorial Shield were : Otago 7, Auckland 5, Southland 1, Canterbury 1. The finest race in the championships was the intermediate girls’ 75yds. breaststroke, in which six finalists finished within a yard of each othef. R. Low, the title-holder, won by half a yard, the rest being almost in line. S. W. Jarvis was the outstanding swimmer at the meeting, winning the 100yds., 440 and 220 intermediate titles. Miss J. Melitose won the 100 and 50yds. junior titles. Results are as follow:— 75yds. junior boys’ breaststroke: G. Chambers (Otago), 1; U. McGregor (Otago) 2; T. Jones (Auckland) -3.
