Glorious Day in Wellington A few brief showers fell in the early morning at Wellington, but most of the day flue and sunny weather prevailed. However, a squally . north-west wind blew. The weather at Wanganui was uncertain, heavy clouds and showers interspersed with bright sunshine. The temperature at noon was 70deg. At Waipukurau it was cloudy to overcast, clearing in the afternoon; there was a 'strong westerly wind. Tlie maximum temperature was 79 at 1.30 p.m., dropping to 69 at 7 p.m. A moderate southerly wind and fine weather prevailed, at Auckland, the conditions being cloudy and threatening occasionally. The barometer continued low, being steady all day at 29.65 hi. The weather at Christchurch was flue and sunny in the morning, with a fresh west-north-west breeze. The wind changed to a very strong southwbster in mid-afternoon and the sky became overcast. The maximum temperature- was 74.8 deg. The barometer rose fairly sharply to 30.07 in. It was overcast and unsettled at Dunedin, with occasional light showers and a squally south-west wimL The maximum temperature was 57 degrees. The' barometer, which registered 29.20 in. at 8 a.m., rose several points in the afternoon.
