FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Changeable; rapid improvement following southerly. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for 24 hours ending at 4 p.m. to-day: — An intense westerly depression, the last of the present series, was crossing the Forerast > ; I Westerly e wffids at first in and north of Cook Strait, but south-westerlies soon prevailing generally; moderate to strong winds and of gale force m many Seas'heavy KeS^i‘®t and Foveaux Strait; elsewhere in New Zealand Strong but decreasing south-westerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea, and seas Weather Equally and changeable, with showers in most districts, some heavy falls being likely and thunder in places. Temperatures becoming cooler everywhere. Conditions improving rapidly, however, after the southerly change. Rainfall at “The Dominion” Building for 24 hours ended at midnight last night: Nil. Rainfall for January to date: 2.01 inches. . Shade temperature at “The Dominion” Building during 24 hours ended at midnight last night: Maximum, 77 degrees; minimum, 63 degrees.
