HOME OF COMPASSION
zkll interested in the garden party to be held in connection with the Homes of Compassion are invited to attend a meeting to be held in the Creche building, Buckle Street, tomorrow evening. Cooking Without Fire.
The following is an excellent and easy method of making a tireless cooker:—Take a strong wooden box. Fix hinges on the lid to keep it closed. Line the inside of the box with asbestos or flannel, fixed with a few tacks. Fill the box with hay or newspapers. Make a cushion of flannel and fill it with newspaper to fit the top of the box. Use sau'cepans or jars with well-fitting lids. Bring all food to the boil and cook for a few minutes, and pack the utensils, without lifting the lids, in the box of hay. Cover all with the prepared cushion. Close the ’id of the box and leave the food to cook. Two or three hours is the usual time, but it will not overcook as it does on a stove. Shake the hay and leave it in the open air when not in use.
Corsage Sprays or Orchids, Roses, Violets. Debutantes’ Posies.—Miss Murray, 36 Willis St. Phone 40-541.— Advt.
