CASH ATHLETICS

Wellington Club’s Progress “New Zealand never sees the best tal- , ent in the world because it has not the foresight to form a body strong enough to bring it here. Yet its talent for the size of the country is outstanding,” said Mr. S. Baker-Wes,t. who presided at the second general meeting of the newly-form-ed Wellington Cash Athletic and Cycling Club last evening. The main difficulty in the way of the club was finance, and to meet this it was decided to promote an art union immediately. A letter congratulating the club on its formation and offering support was received from the Taranaki Centre of the New Zealand Cash Cycling, Athletic and Axemen’s Union. Attention was drawn to inquiries alleged to have been made by members of an amateur club concerning the change to professional status of one of its members. Mr. M. B. Hunt moved that only financial members of the club be permitted to peruse papers and documents relating to its meetings and activities. The matter was left in the secretary’s hands. The following officers were elected :—- President, Mr. 8. Baker-West; treasurer, Mr. C. Lamont; committee, Messrs. B. Wright, E. Stavely, C. V. Aldridge, T. M. Lohrey,_ in additio nto those elected at the previous meeting.
