The Northern Approach to Wellington
Sir,—As a fairly regular visitor to youl’ city from the south, when the approach, by water, is so wonderful, might I suggest that the entry by car from the north is hardly iu keeping with what a traveller might expect when entering the Capital City. The other day I arrived in Wellington by service car in company with some overseas visitors, who were paying their first visit to your city, and the odours obtaining at the lower end of Ngahauranga Gorge were strongly commented on, and did not tend to give a good first impression. Might I suggest that the route be altered to come via Khandallah, when a wonderful panorama cf the city and harbour can be seen. I understand the time taken over the suggested route would be little longer than the present odorous one and trust that Wellington citizens will see that their city is presented to visitors under conditions more in keeping with its beauty and importance.—l am. etc., SOUTH CANTERBURY.
