Fellowships For New Zealanders CARNEGIE GRANTS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, January 21. Valuable assistance in the form of two fellowships annually will be given to selected New Zealand students to continue their studies at the Institute of Education, University of London, through a grant made by the Carnegie Corporation of New York to the institute. A letter to this effect was received by Professor Hunter, vicechancellor of the New Zealand University, from Dr. T. Percy Nunn, director of the institute, and read at the meeting of the university senate to-day. The students will be required to spend at least a year in study or research in the institute or under its guidance. The fellowships will be tenable for one year only, and their value will be 1250 United States dollars. Two each will be allotted to New Zealand. Canada, Australia and South Africa. It is suggested in the letter that the persons nominated should be young men or women of ability, who have bad experience in teaching or educational administration, and who have given evidence that they are likely to play important parts in education A fellow must bind himself to return to hi? own country within a reasonable time after the conclusion of his studies in London The colleges of the University of New Zealand will be asked to nominate suitable candidates, the selection to "be left to the committee which deals with the examination results received in April.
