V ice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Bledlsloe, left Wellington ou Saturday evening for Christchurch, where this evening he will bid farewell to the Duke of Gloucester on the conclusion of bis Royal Highness's official lour of New Zealand. His Excellency will return to Wellington to-morrow morning. Her Excellency, Lady Blerlisloe, attended divine service at St. Paul’s ProCathedral, Wellington, yesterday morning. Ministerial. The .Minister of Finance, the Kt. Hou. J. G. Coates, returned to Wellington yesterday morning from the South Island, where he conferred with representative business men at Dunedin and Christchurch on questions dealing with mortgage finance, which will form the principal legislative measures during the forthcoming session of Parliament. To-morrow evening the Minister will leave on a special trip to North Auckland. His Grace Archbishop O’Shea returned to Wellington from the south on Saturday morning. Mr. R. 11. Nesbitt, Australian Trade Commissioner, has returned to Wellington from Auckland. Sir John Randles, Kt., British ironmaster, and for 20 years a member of the House of Commons, accompanied by Lady Randles, arrived by the Remneva yesterday on a health visit to New Zealand. Mr. G. R. Ritchie, a director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand. Ltd., and general manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Dunedin, arrived in Wellington yesterday by the Remuera after spending nine months in England. Lieut.-Commander V. F. Boyle, R.N., accompanied by Mrs. Boyle, arrived by the Remuera from London yesterday on a holiday visit to the Dominion. Lieut.-Commander Boyle was formerly for six years attached to the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. Lieutenant J. Carmalt-Jones, R.N., accompanied by Mrs. Carmalt-Jones and their daughter, arrived in Wellington yesterday by the Remuera from England. Mr. G. W. Clinkard, general manager of the Tourist Department and secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce, has returned to Wellington from the South Island. Dr. G. XV. Harty has returned to Wellington from the north. Mr. F. Mothes, managing director of the Goldberg Advertising Agency, has returned to Wellington from the south. Dr. and Mrs. Luke have returned to their home in Oriental Terrace after spending a holiday at Takapuna. Mr. J. S. Ross and Mr. J Evans, of Ross and Glendining, Ltd'., left Wellington on Saturday for the north. Mr. IT. Brusey, of the Union Steam Ship Company, left Wellington last evening for Auckland. Mr. C. J. Pugsley, of the Southern Cross Assurance Company, returned to Wellington from the south on Saturday morning. Mr. F. Milner, headmaster of Waitakl Boys’ High School, Oamaru, arrived at Wellington on Saturday morning. Mr. J. G. MacKenzie, Director of Parks anil Reserves, has left Wellington for Dunedin to attend the conference of chairmen of reserves committees and park superintendents. Professor W. E. S. Turner. 0.8. E., D.Se. (London), F, Inst. P., professor of Glass Technology, at the University of Sheffield, and president of the International Commission on Glass Technology, accompanied by Mrs, Turner, arrived by the Remuera yesterday on a holiday visit to the Dominion.
Mr. E. T. Greene Kelly, of England, was a passenger to Wellington by the Remuera, which arrived yesterday. He intends leaving Auckland in a few weeks’ time for Sydney to .join his mother, Lady Doris Greene Kelly, and to accompany her on the return to England.
