AIRWAYS IN SWEDEN

Fine Flying Record By the acquisition of a Northrop aeroplane with a normal flying speed of 175 miles per hour, the Swedish commercial air service has at its disposal the speediest commercial flying machine in Europe at the present time. The machine has already set up a record by flying from Paris to Stockholm in 4 hours 40 minutes. The Swedish Aerotransport Company and the Swedish postal authorities are making names as pioneers of commercial and postal aviation in Europe. For some time it has been the custom of the Swedish postal authorities to direct automatically by air all mall for abroad. During the past year the Swedish Aerotransport machines covered a total stretch of 589,535 kilometres, approximately corresponding to 15 times the length of the equator. The machines, during 1933, carr’ed over 10,000 passengers, 182 tons of goods, and nearly 82 tons of mail, corresponding to about six and a half million letters. Since the beginning of the activity of the company in 1924, its planes have flown 3,826,671 kilometres, or 96 times the length of the equator, without injury to any passenger carried.
