INTERFERENCE BY A TROTTING DRIVER
Holmes’s Appeal Dismissed By N.Z. Board By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, January 18. During the running of the Mace Memorial Handicap at tlie New Brighton Trotting Club's December meeting, F. Holmes, driver of Margaret Chenault, was adjudged guilty of interference with Sea Gift, and was fined £2O, while 13. J. Smith, driver of Sea Gift, was fined £2O for striking Holmes with his whip. Holmes appealed against tlie club's decision at to-night’s meeting of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association. The evidence submitted at the New Brighton club’s meeting was considered, and it was decided to en--dorse the action of the club and to dismiss Holmes’s appeal. It was also decided to cancel the driving license held by Holmes from January 21, and to grant him a conditional license for three months from the same date.
