LOST RACE BUT FOUND BRIDE
Airman’s Engagement Dominion Special Service—By Air Mail. London, December 29. One of the unsuccessful entrants in the England-Australia air race has returned home to find consolation in marriage. He is Flight Lieutenant G. Shaw, and he has just announced his engagement to Miss Barbara Joan Duke-Woolley, elder daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F. Duke-Woolley, of Palace Court, London. Flight Lieutenant Shaw flew a Klemm Eagle in the great race. He was one of the solo pilots. He was at Bushire when the time limit for the race, 10 days, expired. Storing Jam. Jam that is to be kept for several months should not be put away on high shelves unless they are cool and well ventilated. The top shelves of kitchen cupboards are usually rather warm, owing to the hot air that is continually rising, and heat may cause jam to ferment.
