Prudential Assurance Year
The following cable has been received from the directors of the Prudential Assurance Company, Limited, London: The directors announce that, in the ordinary branch, the new sums assured written during 1934, excluding group and reassurances, exceeded £25.000,000, constituting a record for the company. The annuity purchase money exceeded £1,900,000. In the industrial branch new sums assured written exceeded £60,300,000. The Prudential is the largest insurance institution in the British Emp’ire, and the trend of its new business provides a valuable guide to economic conditions. That 1934 has provided a record in this company’s history for ordinary branch new business is a significant and encouraging fact. The Australian and New Zealand branch, which has only been operating for just over three years, completed £1,563,500 in new sums assured during the past year.
