Use For Old Roads The reservation of old road sections for parking places on country roads where there were scenic aud picnic attractions was urged by the Wellington Automobile Association in a letter to the Hutt County Council yesterday. The association did not suggest that local authorities should create such places at perhaps a substantial expenditure to the ratepayers, but merely invited co-operation in providing safe and suitable parking places for the travelling public. The council decided to place the letter on record for future consideration. Improvements to Muritai School. Mr. Walter Nash, M.P., lias been advised by the Minister of Education that he has approved a special grant to cover the cost of new out-ofliees at the Muritai School, and also to cover the cost of connecting the drainage system with the new borough system Impounding Fee Recovered. A fee charged by the Makara County Council last August for the impounding of a bull at Johnsonville was refunded on ,t,he application of the owner at yesterday’s meeting of the council. The owner stated that the animal escaped from the paddock at a spot where the fence had been pulled down by relief workers in the course of their employment two years ago.
