Great Grand-Niece of Poet Burns MRS. C. G. HAYNES Mrs. Clementina Grant Haynes, a daughter of tlie late Mr. A. J. Burns, of Dunedin, and relict, of the late Mr. J. W. H. Haynes, passed away at tlie residence of her brother-in-law. Mr. James Ames, No. 3 I’ipitea Street, yesterday. Mrs. Haynes was born and. lived the earlier part of her life in Dunedin, where' her father, was associated with (lie foundation in New Zealand of the woollen manufacturing industry, he having set up tlie first looms at Mosaic!, a business which subsequently became the Mosgiel Woollen Company. Her Cui her was a grand-nephew of the immortal ".Bobby” Burns, the renowned Scoltish poet, so that, tlie deceased lady was a great grand-niece of Scotland's mitionul poet. She married the late Mr. .1. W. 11. Haynes, a son of the late Mr. Herbert Haynes, one of Dunedin's lending business en of fifty years ago. For about the last twenty years Mrs. Haynes bad been a resident of Wellington, and she was ft lady of sprightly and generous disposition. Mrs. Haynes had no family. Her broth.ers nre Messrs William Haynes, of Wellington, and Mr. Herbert 1 laynes. of Dunedin, and her sister, is Miss Eglantine Burns, of 1 Wellington. Mrs. Rosaiinah Faulkner The deaili occurred at her daughter’s residence, I’urce.'i Street, Foxton, on Tuesday evening, of Mrs. Hosannah Faulkner, aged 80 years, widow of Francis Faulkner, of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England, states a Special Service message. Mrs. Faulkner had been residing with her (laughter, Mrs. S. Dudsou, for the past thirteen years. For some time she had been in failing health. She leaves two married daughters, Mesdnmcs S. Dudson and Leader, both of Foxton. The funeral service was coiiduc’cd by the Rev. A. Fotheringham. Mr. G. G. Holmes Tlie death lias occurred of .Mr. George Gordon Holmes, a well-known farmer and racehorse breeder and owner, states a Press Association message from Christchurch. He gained many successes with Rapier Mr. Holmes was 74 years old.
