One Killed and Others Recaptured PRISON BOARD MEMBERS USED AS SHIELDS By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received January' 17, 7.20 p.m.) New York, January 16. Five convicts escaped from San Quentin prison, California, beating and seriously injuring a warden. One of the felons was slain by a posse, and the four others were captured, one being wounded. Members of the prison board, one of whom is also reported to be injured, were seized by convicts who, having got out of their cells, were hiding in the prison grounds. They waited until the officials went to the warden’s house for luncheon, following a conference or. prison affairs. Then the convicts, using the members of the shields against gun fire, fled, with them in an automobile.
