YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Squally Wind at Wellington The weather at Wellington yesterday was fair and warm, although cloudy most of the day, and a fresh and somewhat squally north-westerly wind prevailed. The temperature at 1 p.m. was 72.9 degrees, aud the maximum during the clay was 73.4 degrees. There was a continuance of brilliant sunshine, and unpleasantly high temperatures at Masterton. There was a continuation of hot and sunny weather at Palmerston North. After a cloudy morning at Wanganui, the skies cleared and brilliant sunshine prevailed, with a cool wind from the north-west. The temperature at one o’clock was 50.5 degrees Another scorching hot day was experienced at Waipukurau, with a maximum temperature at 3 p.m. of 90 degrees, which fell by 5 p.m. to 85 degrees. Slimmer conditions prevailed again at Auckland, with a high temperature and a clear sky. The wind was light and variable, ranging from north-west in the morning to a southerly in the late afternoon. The barometer fell steadily from midday. The weather was line and very hot at Christchurch. The maximum temperature was 89.3 degrees. The wind was strong from the north-west. The barometer fol] during the day and registered 26.69 inches at 5 prr.. The weather at Dunedin was cloudy, with occasional light showers. Conditions were warm and calm. The maximum temperature was 68 degrees. The barometer was steady all day, registering 29.77 inches at 2 p.m.
