Wellington Market Quiet YESTERDAY'S QUOTATIONS /The Wellington stock and share market yesterday was quiet, but firm. G - ernment loans were again in strong de mand, with buyers raising their offers for several of the issues, and no sellers in th ßanks k were firm generally. A “ s . lasias sold at Hl/12/-, Anstralias, cum dividend, at 19/an i New Zealands at 49/6. In the insurance section Nationals of New Zeai and were wanted at 22/-, with no sellers, while buyers of South British advanced their offers 3d. to £4/17/3 with no sellers in the market. In the mining section Big Rivers continue to ease. There were two sales late on Wednesday at 2/-, and yesterday thev were on the market at 2/2, with ers. Waihis were wanted at 39/3, sellers asking 40/3. while Mossy Creek sold late on Wednesday at 2/5. GOLD MINING Latest Returns Mataki Gold Dredging, Limited, advise the following return for the week: — Yield. 18 ounces; hours. 136 hours; yards, 13,600. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Westport, January 17. Addison’s Flat Sluicing Company’s return for the fortnight ending January 12 was 420 z. sdwt. for 29 shifts. Christchurch, January 17. ■Lawson’s Flat wash-up, 58 ounces 12 dwts. retorted gold for fortnight’s work. Dunedin, January 17. The Golden Arrow wash-up last week totalled lOtoz. Bell Kilgour Report The secretary of the Bell-Kilgour Gold Mining Co., Ltd., advises receipt of report from the manager, dated January 12, reading as follows: —The north crosscut from the east branch was advanced 51ft. through hard clay. Bore holes show the “wash floor” to be between 3ft. and 6ft. above the roof, and so am rising up to test values. The north branch was advanced 23ft. on an uneven floor, which lose 4ft. above tram level, and is now dipping. A small run of heavy black sand and Maoris. carrying a little gold was passed through.
