Noisy Neighbours

Sir,—lt is extraordinary how many people complain about their neighbours and neglect to stop and study whether they are not in the same boat themselves. For instance, I have occupied the house in which I now live for over six years, and during that time my next-door neighbour has hardly missed a week-end without having a boisterous party. This is kept up until 3 or 4 a.m., and it has been impossible to get any sleep until after the free fights, motors, voices, etc., cease when the crowd get away early in the morning. About three months ago I purchased « pup and naturally the little chap resents people passing round the back of the house at all hours of the night and let us all know about it. But —would you believe it? —these neighbours complain about the pup barking and spoiling their party and threaten us with the police. If the police would come up with their van some early Sunday mornings they would make a bigger haul of youths and girls under the age of 20, and all the worse for liquor, than at a Chinese raid for opium smoking, and I am beginning to wonder which is the worse curse.

Anyway, my pup still barks aud I make a npint of setting up early on Sunday and giving him a good time, so that be is recompensed for bis loss of sleep by my neighbour's antics during the night.—l am, etc.. BARK AND LET BARK.
