YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Fresh Northerly at Wellington
At Wellington it. was dull in the early morning hours, but cleared later and most, of the day was fine, sunny and warm. A northerly breeze prevailed. and in the afternoon freshened somewhat. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 72.7 degrees and the maximum for the day was 77.6 degrees. Continuous, bright sunshine prevailed at Masterton. There was a slight northerly wind, but in spite of this the temperature remained very high throughout the day. The weather was hot and sunny at Palmerston North with an almost cloudless sky. Another brilliant sunny day was experienced at Wanganui, with clear skies and a fair breeze from the south. The temperature at noon was 74. The heat wave continued in Central Hawke's Bay. The maximum temperature at Waipukurau was 85 degrees. The barometer was steady. There was a continuation of very hot weather at Auckland. A light breeze varied between south and north-east. The barometer was practically steady at 30.05 in.
The weather was fine but for the most part cloudy at, Christchurch. A fresh north-east wind was blowing. The barometer fell during the day and registered 29.86 at 5 pan. The weather at Dunedin was cloudy ami unsettled, with occasional light showers and a fresh north-east wind. The thermometer registered 63 degrees at midday, and the maximum temperature for the day was 64.6 degrees.
