Team for Australia. A gloriously fine day favoured the team’s departure for Australia on Thursday last, and a very large number of croquet players gathered at the wharf to bid farewell to the team. Mrs. Austin, president of the Wellington Croquet Association, in a short speech, wished the team a very pleasant and successful trip. Mrs. Caldow. the 'Wellington player, was the recipient of many lovely flowers and gifts from her many croquet friends, among them being a bouquet and an evening bag from the Wellington club, also a posy and silver fern leaf brooch from the Seatoun club. The* team arrived in Sydney oil Sunday afternoon, having had beautiful weather during the trip. The team was due in Melbourne yesterday.
A Perplexing Point. In n recent match a player croquetted u ball on to the peg, but in doing so committed a foul by double tapping with the ball in play. The question arose: Was the croquetted ball pegged out or not? “As the hall hit the peg during the stroke in which the foul occurred, it is not permissnble to score a point on a foul.” It is, therefore, not pegged out and remains where it came to rest.
