UNIDENTIFIED BODY

Found in Manawatu River VERDICT AT INQUEST Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, January 16. An inquest was held before the District Coroner, Mr, A. J. Graham, this morning on tlie unknown man whose body was found floating in the Manawatu River near tlie Fitzherbert Bridge on January 14. A verdict that there was no evidence to show how death occurred was returned. In returning his verdict, Mr. Graham commented that an examination of the body revealed that there had been no violence,-but it was impossible to determine if there had been any head injuries. It might lie safely assumed that death was due to drowning. Constable W. R. Miller said tlie body had been in the river from three weeks to three months and had evidently been under water for some time. No man had been reported missing from the district for over a year.
