The Dominion. TUESDAY, JANUARY 15, 1935. AEROPLANE STUNTS
Public opinion no doubt will heartily endorse the finding of the coroner at the inquest on the death of the Te Aroha airman who lost his life as the result of an accident which occurred in the coin se of an aeroplane “dog-fight” in November-last “Stunts of this kmc, as the coroner properly remarked, should be reserved to militai, training under proper supervision. It appears from the evidence a the inquest that there was some doubt as to whether the ill-fatm exhibition at the Te Aroha air pageant should be attempted, and the consideration that weighed with those in charge of the piogiiininu was that the public would be disappointed if it were omitted. Bu the general sense of the community would be strongly opposed to any suggestion that human lives should be risked to make, so to speak, a Roman holiday. The whole object of aero displays should be to demonstrate the safety of flying when machines are used as their designers and manufacturers intended them to be used.
