Karori Club at Trentham DIFFICULT CONDITIONS \ The Karori Rifle Club continued its championship series with a shoot at 900 yards at Trentham on Saturday. A strong southerly wind, changing in strength from 2 degrees left to 13 degrees right, made conditions-, very trying, particularly for the more inexperienced riflemen, and some very low scores were recorded. The scratch weekly trophy was won by P. B. Goldfinch, with the score of Si out of 109, while the handicap trophy was won -by D. Rankin with 84. The top positions in the club championship and handicap aggregate (counting out one long and one short-range •shoot), the Witeombe and Caldwell Cup. | and the Judd and Randell aggregate, are as follow: — Club championship: J. Petone Competitions The Petone Rifle Club fired a competi-, Lion counting for the second handicap scries, and Loiigfield handicap series at Trentham on Saturday, the range for the day being 900 yards. The weather was beautifully fine, but with a variable front “fishtail” wind. blowing, which proved almost impossible to estimate with accuracy, and “outers” and “misses'’ appeared in almost all score cards. The club standard of 44 was reached by only one member. The best range score was secured , by T. Chapman, who scored 44 each time he fired, the other leading scores being T. Warburton 43, A. Ballinger 42 and seven scores of 41 each. The best aggregate off the gun was secured by T. Chapman with 88, followed by R. H. Nicholl, A. Ballinger and T. Brown S2 each. Next Saturday the ranges -will be 300 and 600 yards, the shooting counting for the second handicap series. The following are the scores:— 900 900 yds. yds. Hep. Ttl.

Old Navals’ Match The Old Naval Rifle Club fired their fifth shoot in the second series, counting also for the Hugo Cup, at 900 yards, at Trentham on Saturday under very difficult conditions, only one rifleman reaching the club standard of 84..
