No Legal Remedy For Noisy Dogs?
Sir, —“Dogtired” Is right. Every night in every suburb one’s rest is disturbed by barking, whining and howling. There are too many selfish people who allow their dogs to annoy neighbours. Unfortunately, there is no way of stopping the disturbance. I once asked a constable if he could do anything to get a neighbour to remove his dog, but was told that there was no law or regulation under which the police could act. ■ Surely it is a reasonable thing for one to have an undisturbed night’s sleep in a residential suburb without being kept awake by barking dogs. The average business man can put up with city noises during the day. but it is maddening to be disturbed night after night without any legal yay of getting the dog, or dogs, removed.—l am, etc., D THE DOG.
