COMMISSIONS GIVEN TO ARMY CADETS

General Booth’s Message CHARGE BY COMMISSIONER ADAMS Salvation Army Cadets who have completed their courses at the Training Garrison, Aro St., Wellington, were dedicated and received their commissions and appointments at a believers’ session at the Vivian Street Citadel conducted by Lt.-Commissionor F. H. Adams. Territorial Commander of the Army in New Zealand, last night. A message from General Evangeline Booth, to the cadets, calling on them to be more self-sacrificing in eonsecretion, was read by Mrs. Adams. The cadets were presented for the commissioning ceremony by Colonel A.’ Orsborn. Chipf Secretary of the Army, who has had the oversight of the training operations during the sessjon. In his charge to the cadets Commissioner Adams said it was his desire for them that they should go out as sinful Salvationists preaching tlie gospel. They should go out with the spirit of the Evangel preaching the gospel of the everlasting kingdom. The Commissioner also urged them to register the determination to be producers. He was sure that wherever they went they would produce spirits like themselves, and if they did that they would make the world better than they found it. “I would like you to go out with confidence in yourselves.'’ he said. “Have confidence in your leaders. The Salvation Army has encircled itself round the world, and it has all been done by men and women like yourselves who threw themselves into the fight. Our flag speaks of holiness of heart and of life—of inward purity. Have confidence in that flag. Above all have confidence in Christ. He will be your support and strength.” Commissioner Adams urged the cadets to have high ideals and high standards and to register a determination that they would escape the average. They had a great calling and a great heritage. “Live up to this position of a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ,” he said. They would find the outcast and the sad wherever they went. “There will be opportunities at your very door. Make the most of them.” Pageant of Flags. The service opened with a march by the Wellington Citadel Band, following -which the Commissioner and Mrs. Adams, Colonel and Mrs. Orsborn, Lieut.-Colonel Burton, and the Training College staff and cadets entered tlie citadel and took their places on the platform. AU joined in singing “Army of Salvation.” Major N. Smith, the women’s side officer, led in prayer and Major A. Hildreth, tlie second in charge of the Training College, read a Scripture lesson. A pageant of flags was then presented by the cadets of the believers’ session, concluding with the song, “The Great Call.” The cadets then made the declaration of faith and were dedicated. After being promoted and appointed, the new officers were welcomed by the Field Secretary, Lieut.-Colonel F. Burton.
