Thirty Petitions Filed During 1934 27 individuals and three companies filed nankruptcy notices in AVellington district. According to the statements filed assets totalled £4403/1/2 and there was also a total of £31,252/15/5 secured to creditors. Liabilities, according to I be staiemeuts, amounted to £23.976/17/4. and the realisation of assets by tlie Official Assignee produced £3672/11/3. None of tbe bankrupts had liabilities exceeding £5OOO. but 'the financial responsibilities of tliree were between £2OOO ami £5OOO. and four were liable for sums ranging between £lOOO and £2OOO. Twelve owed between £5OO and £1000: three between £250 and £500; four between £lOO and £250; one between £5O and £lOO and none lower than that. In 22 eases the debtors filed the petition and in five eases the creditors did so. Bankrupts comprised two butchers, two clerks, and two milk vendors and such a diversified, range of occupations as an agent, a builder, a coal merchant, a dairy farmer, a dentist, a director, a draper, a driver, a I'uruiture manufacturer. a manager, a manservant, a private boardingiiouse-keeper. a porter, a relief worker, a restaurant keeper, a sales manager, a slaughterman, a storekeeper, a talkie projectionist, a 'timber flicrchant, and a widow.
