Mrs. Morgan has returned to Shannon from Wanganui. Miss Sheila Duncan has returned to Wanganui from Palmerston North. Miss E. Card, of Featherston, is holidaying at Otaki. Mrs. J. P. Petrie has returned to Feilding from Wanganui. Mrs. W. H. Walker has returned to Lower Hutt from Wanganui. Miss N. Preston, of Wellington, is staying with Mrs. V. E. Donald, Lansdowne, Masterton. Mr. and Mrs. Keedwell, and Mr. L. Keedwell, of Greytown, are on a visit to Taranaki. Mrs. Forsyth, the Misses J. and P. Forsyth and Miss J. Wall, Ohau. are visiting Wanganui. Miss Evelyn Ferrar, Scorching Bay, is the guest of Miss Hazel Elmslie, Christchurch. Miss Joyce Blunden lias returned to Christchurch from a holiday spent in Rotorua, Hamilton and Wellington. Dr. and Mrs. W. B. Sutch. Wellington, paid a short holiday visit to Whangarei. Miss Molly Horne, Ballance, has returned home after a holiday with Mrs. McFarlane, Palmerston North. Mrs. J. Jack, Dunedin, is visiting Wanganui with her small daughter, and are staying at “Wbarenui.” Squadron Leader and Mrs. G. L. Stedman have returned to Wellington from a trip to Hawke’s Bay. Miss Ruby Grant is a Wellington visitor to Rotorua, and is the guest of her sister, Mrs. P. A. Kusabs. Miss Madeline Vyner, who has been in Dunedin for the holidays, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. M. E. R. Tripe, Molesworth Street, is staying in Dunedin with her sister, Mrs. E. C. Reynolds. Mr. and Mrs. L. Benjamin and Miss M.> Benjamin, have returned to Wanganui from a holiday in Wellington. Mr.' and Mrs. Harold Taylor have returned to Wanganui from Dunedin, where they attended Miss Taylor’s wedding. Mesdames R. D. Gambrill and Simpson have returned to Palmerston North from the North Island croquet championships in Wanganui. Miss Queenie Morrison, of the Hobson Street Hospital, is spending a holiday jn Christchurch with her mother, Mrs. W. C. Morrison. Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Ritchie, who have been the guests of Mrs. P. L. Ritchie in Dunedin, passed through Wellington on their return to their home iu Rsetihi. Among recent Wellington visitors to the Franz Josef Glacier were Mrs. M. Martin, Mr. H. Martin, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Smillie, Mrs. J. A. Doctor and Miss M. Willis. The Hon. Alice Whiteley Misses Mary Campbell and Nan Mellor, all of whom arrived from England in November, will leave Christchurch to-morrow for a tour of the Southern Lakes district. Mrs. G. Grant, Misses Ann Vickers, T. Stuart and M. Skelton, of Victoria, are on a motor tour of New Zealand. They visited Miss Rita Bassett when in Wanganui. Lady Marchamley, who came ■ from England recently on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. S.' Johnstone, Christchurch, is now the guest of Mrs. Herbert Acton-Adams, “Tipapa.” North Canterbury. Sir Alexander and Lady Godley, who on their arrival in Canterbury will pay a short visit to Major and Mrs. Hutton, Bangor; will go to-day to stay with Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, irt “Otahuna,” Tai Tapu. Mrs. E. R. Howard will leave Christchurch to-day to take up her' residence in Wellington, where she will be joined by Her mother, Mrs. E. L. May. and her son, who are at present in Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. F. Cotton, wbo for the past six years have been residing in Samoa, where Mr. Cotton lias been teaching under the New Zealand Education Department, are spending three months furlough in Whangarei and the north. Mrs. T. E. Barrer, Masterton, editor of “Country Woman,” the official journal of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, is a visitor to Christchurch this week to attend the meeting of the Dominion Executive of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs. T. 11. Lowry, Okawa, Hastings, wbo has been slaying at the Grand Hotel, Auckland, intends going to-day to Rotorua with her daughter, M.\. Keginaid Bettington, of Sydney, who is recovering from an appendicitis operation.
Mrs. Walter Empson, who since her arrival in New Zealand from England several weeks ago has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. Gordon Williams, “Drumpeel,” Hawke’s Bay, is now visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Acland. Christchurch. Nurse Bell, who has been resident Plunket nurse in the Tauranga district for the past 15 months, has resigned as she has received an appointment as sister-in-charge of the children's ward at the Palmerston North Hospital. Her successor at Tauranga will be Miss Nancy Harding, of Whakatane.' The Hon. Mr. Justice Pair. Auckland, and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fair, Timaru, who have been the guests of Mrs. T. Fair, Mount Street, are spending a week at the Chateau Tongariro. •Mrs. James Payne, Wellington, wife of the Assistant Trade Commissioner for Australia, and her daughter are staying at the Grand Hotel, Auckland. Cabled news has been received by Dr. and Mrs. John Guthrie, Christchurch, that the marriage of their daughter, Miss Betty Guthrie, to Dr. Paul Wood, was celebrated at St. Marylebone Church, London, on December 29. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. John Guthrie, and after the wedding Dr. and Mrs. Wood left for a visit to Scotland.
