OPIUM CHARGES

White Woman Among Those Arrested FREDERICK STREET RAID A white woman and a white man were among those arrested shortly before midnight on Saturday night, when police raided a house in Frederick .Street, in which it was suspected opium was being smoked. Six Chinese were also taken into, custody. The raid was carried out by a party from the Mount Cook police station, and a quantity of the paraphernalia usually associated with the use of opium was found inside the house. AU those arrested will appear in the Magistrate’s Court this morning to answer charges relating to the illegal smoking of the drug.
