The services of the Wellington Fire Brigade were requested eight times yesterday for the suppression of gorse and grass fires. Between 2 p.m. and 7.19 p.m. fires were attended at Moana Road, between Kelburn and Highbury; at Agra Crescent, Khandallah: at Farnham Street, Mornington, where a large area of gorse was burnt: at Cashmere Avenue, Khandallah; and at Hobson Street. Then three calls were received within four minutes of each other at about 7.45 to Moana Road. Connaught Terrace, Brooklyn, and Hutchinson Road, Neivtown.
