It is officially announced that the price of gold will be raised to-morrow from 2.95 yen a gramme to 3.09 yen for the purpose of readjustment vis-a-vis the London gold market and keeping the yen exchange steady.

SHARES RISE IN ENGLAND

London, January 10.

The “Evening Standard” says that goldmining shares are already t rising, indirectly helped by the Japanese Government’s decision to increase the domestic price of gold. This is taken to imply that gold will not recede greatly from its present sterling price.
