YESTERDAY’S WEATHER
Northerly Breeze in Wellington
At. Wellington the weather yesterday was dull in the morning, but sunny most of the afternoon. A northerly breeze prevailed. ’The temperature at the Kelburn Observatory ar 4 p.m. was 70.1 degrees, and the maximum during the day was 73.3 degrees. The sky at Masterton was lightly overcast during the greater part of the day, and the temperatures were more comfortable.
A further very warm day was experienced at Walpukuyau, with a maximum temperature at 2 p.m. of 85 degrees, which fell by 5 p.m. to 80 degrees. The barometer remained steady.
A moderate southerly wind and fine weather but cloudy unsettled conditions prevailed at Auckland. The barometer was steady at 29J)5in. during the 24 hours.
The weather was cloudy and unsettled in Christchurch. There was a light shower of rain between 2 and 3 p.m., and a very heavy one at 5 p.m. The barometer was steady at 29.85iu. The weather was unsettled at Dunedin. Heavy rain fell during the morning, followed by a brief spell of sunshine and showers iu the afternoon. A fresh south-west wind was blowing. The maximum temperature was 05 degrees. The barometer had a falling tendency, and registered 29.55 in. last gyenipg.
