PICTON EXCURSION
■ The speed-boat race for the Masport Cup, at Picton, on Anniversary Day, has been specially timed for 1.30 p.m. to enable passengers by the Wahine’s excursion from Wellington' to witness this championship event. Other launch and outboard motor races will also be heid during the Wahine’s stay iu Picton. Apart from these events, there will be a special train to Blenheim and back to connect with the steamer, launches to a number of the Queen Charlotte Sound beauty spots, and a cruise of the Sound by s.s. Tuatea, while the beauty of the surroundings of the little port will appeal to the many who will be merely bent on picnicking. The Wahine will leave Wellington at 8 a.m., and.should run across the Strait in little more than an hour and a quarter, and, counting in the sheltered water- at either end, should arrive at Picton about 10.45 a.m. The return will commence at 2.30 p.m., and she should be back at the Wellington Wharf about 5.30 p.m.
