The prompt action of a constable averted a serious couflagratSon in Esk Street shortly after midnight. Observing smoke drifting over a block of buildings at the real’ of the Majestic Theatre, he gave the alarm, the brigade arriving when the flames were beginning to break through the roof of Ross and Glendining’s three-story Warehouse. Through dense clouds of smoke the seat of the fire was attacked and it was quickly suppressed. The damage runs into several hundreds of pounds. 1
