SMOKE OVER TOWN
Unpleasant Conditions in Hamilton By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, January 11. Thick fog, accentuated by the smoke from peat fires that have been raging in the swamps adjacent to the town, made for unpleasant conditions this morning irt Hamilton, and visibility in the main street was limited to 50 yards. Fires have been .smouldering fully n month, and as a result of the long spell of dry weather have burst into flame, igniting belts of sern’’. and teatree. The property damage has been very slight.
