An Anniversary of the Russo-Japanese War THE FALL OF PORT ARTHUR

Thirty years ago to-day the Japanese troops made their triumphal entry into Port Arthur, and brought about the virtual end of the Russo-Japanese War. The garrison surrendered with 48,000 prisoners and thousands of rounds of ammunition and up-to-date equipment, and practically the whole of the Russian Navy. It was one of the greatest surrenders in the history of the world to that date.
