New Blue Star Motor-ships Belfast has fared well in the matter of orders recently. The two 15,000-to.n motorships for the Uniou-Castle Mail Steamship Company’s intermediate round-Africa service are to be 'built by Harland and Wolff, Limited, who have.also secured an order from the Blue Star Line for two further vessels of large refrigerated capacity. Although no reference to these was made at the luncheon on the occasion of the launch of the New Zealand Star, it is understood that an official statement will be issued very shortly, states the "Syren aud Shipping.” These orders will raise the tonnage on hand at the Queen's Island to about 200.000, which is a record for any yard in the British Isles, and will Include no fewer than six ships—two of 25,000'tons, two of 15,000 tons, and two of 8000 tons—for the UniouCastle "Company. KENT’S DEPIVR/TURE. The Federal steamer Kent is now to clear Auckland finally next Tuesday for London, Aronmoulb, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. THIS BRISBANE MARU. The Union Company’s Waltaki, due here to-day from southern ports, will sail again later to-day for Auckland, thence to Sydney. She will load at Newcastle on January 22; thence to Sydney and Hobart to 'complete loading for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru and Lyttelton. ARDENVOHR. The A. and A. Line chartered motorship Ardcnvohr js reported to have cleared New York on January 9 for Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Australia. She is due at Auckland about jebruary 14. MAMARI DELAYED. The Shaw, Savill steamer Mamari, • which reached Bluff on January 10. will now- leave there next Tuesday for Napier to complete discharge and continue loading. She will later load at Auckland, Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Wanganui. whence she will sail finally on February 5 for London, Avonrqoutb, Liverpool and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal and Kingston. TANKER FILEFJELL. The Norwegian tanker Filefjell, with bulk motor spirit for the Shell OH Company, reached Wellington yesterday from San Francisco via Auckland. After discharging she will sail for Balik Papan. RUAHINE LEAVES CURACAO. The British Phosphate Commission has received advice that the Queen Eleanor sailed from Nauru for Auckland last Tuesday with 71'30 tons of phosphates. She is due there on January 19. w PHOSPHATE SHIP LAUNCHED. The motor-ship Triaster, which has been built for the British Phosphate Commissioners to engage in the phosphates trade from Nauru and Ocean Island to New Zealand and Australia, has been alunched. GERMAN FAR EAST SERVICE. The commissioning of the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, now under construction, on the Norddeutscher Lloyd East Asia Line will mean a considerable speeding up of the goods traffic in 1933 between European and Far Eastern ports. On the outward voyage these ships are to cover the distance from Bremen-Hamburg to Genoa, via Rotterdam, Southampton, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, in nlna davs and from Genoa to Shanghai via Port Said, Colombo. Penang, Singapore, Manila, Hong-Kong in 23 days. After calling at Shanghai, the vessels will proceed to -Yokohama and Kobe. Thence homewardbound they will require o«iy 24 days for the return voyage from Shanghai, calling on route not only at the ports abovementioned, but also Belawan. and Marseilles instead of Genoa. Both steamers will be fitted out. with the most modern and first-class equipment not only for the transportation of passengers, but also for the carrying of freight. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
