BUILDING AIRCRAFT
Mr. Fokker’s Arrangement FACTORY IN ENGLAND (Received January 10, 7.45 p.m.) Loudon, January 10. It is understod that Mr. Anthony Fokker has concluded an arrangement with Airspeed, Ltd., to build Fokker and Douglas machines in England. The St. Moritz correspondent of the British United Press, states that the Airspeed works at Portsmouth will continue to be used for experimental purposes. A new factory will be built at Newcastle-on-Tyne, with Mr. Fokker himself acting as leading designer of new types and supervising construction. The company will build seaplanes, bombers. and powerful mail and passenger planes. FURTHER INQUIRY Crash of Dutch Air Liner The Hague, January 9. Owing to the uncertainty of the cause of the disaster to the Douglas airliner (the “Flying Hotel”) in the Syrian Desert, the Government is appointing an official committee of investigation.
