The programme for tlie Mothes Shield contest is very comprehensive, and Should make an attractive spectacle for the onlookers. As far as the oarsmen are concerned, it will require their wholehearted co-operation to prevent delays in the programme. The controlling authorities Intend Unit there shall be no delays, and the starter has been instruct'! to fije his pistol precisely at the times stated on the programme, regardless of the number of crews present. The regatta will be started promptly at 2.30 p.m., and if no crews are at the start the first race will be cancelled. In former years the control of Wellington inter-chib regattas has been somewhat casual, and the public has often shown discontent over the continually late starts, disqualification of -crews, and calling off of races. The present personnel of the W.A.R.A. should deserve the' thanks of the public In general, and the congratulations of fellow oarsmen in particular, for their efforts to brighten up local inter-club regattas in an endeavour to popularise rowing with the public. It is a notable fact that there are gradually larger crowds gathering on the Taranaki Street Wharf, or Peto.ne foreshore, to watch these races.
