WEDDINGS
Collins —Hayman St. Mark’s Church, Wellington, was beautifully decorated on the evening of January 4 for the wedding of Joan Brahmana, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hayman, Nelson, and Kenneth George, youngest son of Mrs. Collins, and the late Mr. J. G. Collins, Palmerston North. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Mr. Clive Drummond, wore a gown of magnolia satin, cut on classical lines with high medic! collar of rucked satin. The long train, which hung from the shoulders, was finished with silver roses, and her embroidered tulle veil was caught to the head with sprays of orange blossom buds. She carried a sheaf of deep cream gladioli, roses and maidenhair fern. There were three brid-esmalcjs, Miss Enid Collins, twin sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Thelma Gray, Nelson, who wore frilled Janet Gaynor frocks in floral lemon organdie over flame satin, and Miss Essie Drummond, cousin of the bride, in hydrangea blue organdie over blue satin, cut on the same lines as the frocks of the chief bridesmaids. They all wore skull caps of natural flowers and carried sheaves of gladioli to tone with their dresses. Mr. Gosnell was best man and Mr. Piper groomsman. The reception was held at the Royal Oak Hotel where the guests, were received by the bride's mother, who wore a smart ensemble of black and white marocain with black baku straw hat, and carried a posy of red roses. Mrs. Collins, mother of the bridegroom, was in a lido blue ensemble with floral frock and hat to tone and she carried a posy of pink carnations and roses. When Mr. and Mrs. K. Collins left for the south the latter travelled in a grey tailored coat over a floral frock, with hat and shoes to match. Their future home will be at Wellington, Beck—Neary The wedding was celebrated recently at John Knox Presbyterian Church, Rangiora. Canterbury, of Kathleen Maud, eldest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F. J. Neary, Edinburgh. Scotland, and late of Foxton, to James Alexander Beck, Rangiora, The Rev. J. A. E. Preston, Motumau, was the ofliciating minister. The church was decorated with rambling roses and maidenhair fern by friends of the bride. The bride was given away by Mr. Mitchell, Rangiora. She wore a becoming frock of nile green marocain, made on fitting Hues to the knees, and from there flaring to the hem, which was edged with fine pleating. Her hat was of fine natural coloured straw, trimmed with two green velvet roses. Site carried a beautiful bouquet of pink and lemon carnations and maidenhair fern.
She was attended by Miss Evelyn Beck, a sister of the bridegroom, who was dressed in lemon floral silk voile, closely fitting, with frilled godets from the knees. She wore a large black picture hat and her bouquet was of pink and mauve sweet peas and maidenhair fern. e Mr. Stanley Beck, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The guests were received after the ceremony by Mrs. Beck, mother of the bridegroom, and Mrs. F. McKechnie. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Beck will take up their residence at Christchurch. GOOD VALUES !
