Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Callan are At ellington visitors to Timaru. Mrs. Wastney, Wanganui, has taken up residence at Nelson. Miss J. Wilson, Wanganui, is visiting Mrs. B. Knight, Dannevirke. Mrs. E. Newbigiu, Hastings, is staying at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. G. W. Wright, who aas been on a trip to Australia, returned to Wellington yesterday. Mrs. A. E. O’Meara, Hastings, left by the Monowai yesterday for a trip to Sydney and Melbourne. The Misses Molly and June Miles, Wellington, are the guests of Miss Linley Glen at Geraldine. Mr. and Mrs. S. Jardine. Wadestown, have returned after a holiday at Te Coma, Plimmerton.

Mr. and Mrs. H. R. S. Taylor, who have been visiting Mrs. J. Rhodes, at Taradale, have returned to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stent. Karaka Bay, motored to Rotorua, and are now staying at Brent’s. The Rev. Vincent and Mrs. Gerard, Petone, are the guests of Miss Gerard, Christchurch.

Mrs. C. M. Turrell, Halswell Street, is the guest of Mrs/ J. F. Buchanan, Little River.

Miss Betty Wilson has returned from a visit to Mrs. H. F. Arkwright. Marton.

Miss Mina Holderness, of Marsden School, is spending the holidays with her sister, Miss Jean Holderness, at Christchurch.

Miss Irene Wilson, principal of Queen Margaret College, is staying with her mother, Mrs. J. H. Wilson, Christchurch.

Mr', and Mrs. Hector Stratton, Hastings, and their son, were passengers by the Monowai yesterday for Sydney and Melbourne.

Mr. and Mrs. Keedwell, Greytown, and their son, Mr. L. Keedwell, are making a holiday tour as far as Taranaki.

Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Wood, with Mr. Herbert and Miss Marjorie Wood, have returned to Greytown after an extended camping tour in the north. The Bey. L. and Mrs. Horwood, who have been visiting Mrs. Horwood’s mother,-Mrs. T. E. Taylor, Christchurch, have returned to Petone. Captain and Mrs. J. J. Cameron, who are on a visit to New Zealand from London, arrived at Wellington on Wednesday, and are staying at Sayes Court.

Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey O’Leary, Burnell Avenue, who have .been on a motoring tour, of the North Island during the holidays, have returned to Wellington. Miss Helen Ferrar, Scorching Bay, who has been staying with her grandmother, Mrs. Andrew Anderson, Kowhai Bush, is now the guest of Mrs. Pascoe, Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Chrystal, Moawhango, Taihape, who have been visiting Mrs. W. Chrystal, Chrjstchurch, passed through Wellington this week on the way home.

Miss Nancy Clibborn, 8.A., Christchurch, has been appointed to the staff of the Hutt Valley High School, and will leave at the end of the month to take up her new duties. Miss Netta Pitkowsky, Wellington, left yesterday for Melbourne, where she will meet her mother and proceed with her on an extended trip to Palestine, .England, and the Continent. Sir Charles and Lady Owen, who have been the guests of Sir Frederick and Lady Chapman, Eccleston Hill, returned to Sydney by the Monowai yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Dove. Auckland, with their son and daughter, who have been staying at the Hotel St. George, left for the south last evening, and intend returning to Wellington in a couple of weeks. Miss Elsie Williams, Frirnley, Hastings, with her nieces the Misses Meg and Christina 'Williams, have taken a house on Queen Charlotte Sound for a month of the holidays, and went through Wellington this week on their way there. Miss Doris Symes, Wanganui, who returned from England recently, has received a teaching appointment at Woodford House School, Havelock North. Miss Symes will teanh such subjects as elocution, speech training, dramatic art, and singing. She will be associated in this work with an English teacher, Miss Hazel, who is coming to New Zealand shortly. Miss Sylvia Neviil has returned to Dunedin after four years In England and Europe. The first two years were spent studying the Montessori system of education at the Training College in London; then, having gained her diploma under Dr. Maria Montessori, she went to' Barcelona, Spain, for further study. Other countries visited during her stay abroad were France, Austria, Sweden, and the Irish Free State. She has now come out to New Zealand to take up the post of Montessori directress at St. Hilda’s Collegiate School, Dunedin.
