Barebacked But Not Barefaced

Sir, —I wish to congratulate “A Visitor to Wellington” on his broadminded and intelligent outlook. To the devil with these sihful and disgusting bodies of our beach-loving Wellingtonians. How much, less disturbing if we could float about as disembodied spirits or hang our bodies in the wardrobe before going forth, for a dip, and then our visitor could enjoy his “Dominion” under the shady trees, his interest undisturbed by beach sheiks and bathing beauties clad in “little more than loin cloths.” I’m not so sure he is not a publicity agent for Oriental Bay. ‘BareLaced” he calls these erring females. Barefronted and very barebacked would be more truthful. Our visitor would. have them clad in the stupid bathing suits of 30 vears ago. He states he enjoys a dip in a “shoulder-to-knee garment and no exhibition afterward.” Believe me, he would be an exhibition all of the . time. sumably his remark “exhibition afterward” refers to the long-suffering male who cannot roll down his bathing suit to obtain a little healthy sun-tan without bringing upon himself the disapproval or all the prudes and modesty mongers, in the citv. He wonders what little children think of their scantily-clad parents. Let me tell him that little children have an inherent desire to run naked, and it not until they grow older and are taught lust how sinful and disgusting their warm young bodies are that the acquire this “shame” that our visitor possesses in such a large measure Away with these canting humbugs nnd their evil-thinking minds. My advice to “A Visitor to Wellington and others of his ilk is that they don their ucck-to> knee outfits and jump over the wharf They will get a rousing send-off by all the “savages” in the egWellington, January 10.
